On Sunday morning, the heart of Venice turned blue as a "human river" flowed through Campo Santa Maria Formosa to deliver a universal message: eliminate all forms of violence against women.
The collective performance, conceived by artist Elena Tagliapietra for the 30th anniversary of the Anti-Violence Center of the Municipality of Venice, gathered over one hundred participants. Titled “A Human Wave Against Gender Violence”, the initiative is part of the November Women 2024 program and proudly counts Ruzzini Palace among its active supporters.
A Message from the Community
The event, organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Venice and supported by Europe Direct Venice, was enriched by the storytelling of writer Alberto Toso Fei. His accounts shed light on Venetian women of the 16th century who championed education and self-determination, linking the struggles of the past with the ongoing fight against gender-based violence.
Ruzzini Palace’s Role
As a proud partner of this initiative, Ruzzini Palace reaffirmed its commitment to the values of solidarity and inclusion that guide the Venetian community.
"Being part of this initiative fills us with pride," said the General Manager of Ruzzini Palace. "Our hotel is not just a place of hospitality but also an active participant in the cultural and social life of Venice. The fight against gender-based violence is a cause close to our hearts, and we believe supporting events like this is an essential step toward a fairer and more respectful future."
Art and Participation for Awareness
Elena Tagliapietra, renowned for her impactful artistic installations, emphasized how art can amplify voices often silenced:
"By dressing in blue and forming a large human river, we aim to shout, without words, that gender-based violence must end. It’s a deeply personal cause, and through this performance, I wanted to create a moment of collective reflection."
